Startup Error

I just got a new laptop a few days ago. It was doing fine, then as of yesterday, everytime I start it, I get an error.

shwicon2k.exe is not responding... etc.


I looked online and found out that it has something to do with my Built in Card Reader. I got a lot of results of people asking what it was... but I didn't see anything about how to fix the error.

I don't want to just get rid of it because I would like to be able to use the card reader.

Any Ideas?

 

File shwicon2k.exe is located in a subfolder of "C:\Program Files" (common is C:\Program Files\Multimedia Card Reader\). Known file sizes on Windows XP are 139264 bytes (52% of all occurrence), 135168 bytes.
The file is not a Windows core file. The program has no visible window. The application can be uninstalled in the Control Panel. The program starts upon Windows startup (see Registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run).

Important: Some malware can camouflage themselves as shwicon2k.exe, particularly if they are located in c:\windows or c:\windows\system32 folder. Thus check the shwicon2k.exe process on your pc whether it is pest.
