Startup freezes after I restart

Hi, I've had this problem for some time now. Everytime I restart the computer It freezes after the first boot beep (between the first and second beeps). I have a Leadtek Geforce 6600GT which has a boot loading screen after which the computer freezes. If I shutdown and wait about a minute, the computer will startup fine. I have installed the lastest drivers for the graphics card and latest bios for the Asus p4p800S SE motherboard.
Anyone know why this might be happening?

Sorry I can't really help with this, I just wanted to add I have the exact same thing happening with my Asus A7N8X Deluxe board. So maybe it's something with asus boards. I really don't know. I almost never reset and only shutdown about once a month or so, so I don't worry about it too much but if someone knows why I'd love to figure it out.

Are you like me and run the computer almost 24/7/365?

Yeah, it runs pretty much 24/7. I only notice it when going into bios or updating/uninstalling that force a restart. It's an annoyance, but pleased it's not just me!

Just a few suggestions that worked for others with Asus boards.

    1. Probably waiting for the RAID controller. It is enabled by default and if it's not being used, it causes a long wait. Go into BIOS and disable the unused RAID controller(s)

    2. Unplug everything connected via the USB/Firewire ports and restart, see if you get a quicker boot up time.

    3.
One other suggestion was to check your manual because there is an option to disable this, they were not real specific here but a 35 second delay was mentioned.

    Hope this helps in someway.

We arn't talking about a delay (at least I'm not). My computer cannot reset. I can power it down and power it back up, but I can never reset. It will stop during the POST and stay there until it's shutdown and turned back on.

It used to annoy me when I used my computer remotely, because I couldn't restart the computer. I had to physically be there to turn it back on since resetting doesn't work. I've tried reseting remotely before and it's sat the POST screen for a few hours before I could come back home to it and physicaly turn it off and back on.

It boots up rather quickly when it's being turned on too. I've never been able to figure out why a reset just won't work.

It is worth noting, that when I first built it, it was able to reset. It's a feature that it lost over the years. :)

Yeah, same here. What graphics card and PSU do you have. I upgraded mine around the same time as the freezes started... I have a Leadtek Geforce 6600GT and a Tagan TG480-U01.
If you shutdown then powerup straight away will it work or still freeze? Mine has to be left for about a minute before it will startup again.

Mine will work if I shutdown and power it up right away. I usually just give it 10 seconds to let all the fans stop before powering it up again though.

My video card is an older one. It's a Geforce 4 TI4200.My PSU is an enermax 350Watts (I'm too lazy to get more detailed then that). In case you wanted to know it's an athlon 2800+ for the CPU. It's not cutting edge but it works for me. :)
