Startup issue

I had this problem when i was trying to fix my father old computer, and resolved it with a new hard drive but there has to be another way to go about it

here is my problem

when my computer boots, instead of going directly to the OS I get two OS Windows 2000 Pro and Windows XP I have to choose in 30 seconds. How do I delete one of those OS specfially XP which has played murder on my GeForce FX 5700VE graphics card. So my computer boots normally.

 

Which os are you running?

You have to edit the boot.ini to fix it.
For xp rightclick mycomputer>properties>advanced>startup and recovery>setting>edit
Post the contents of the file here and we will tell you what to do next.

Svicious's question prompted me to try to alter my default startup time in XP Pro. After a lot of searching I was able to find and edit my boot.ini file and reduce the default time from 30 seconds delay, down to a more reasonable 5 seconds. I was going to post how I did it here, but on reading the thread again I see that his OS is Win2000, so I bow to your superior knowledge in matters OS Win2000. Bazza
