startup issues

I have been having some trouble lately when starting up my laptop. It just seems to take forever to get booted up! I followed some advice from a friend who told me to goto a site and change some configuration settings to make my computer faster. It seemed a little faster at first but now I seem to have more issues everyday! I am using this laptop mainly to run CAD/CAM software. It is a dell Precision M6300. Can anyone help me to get this computer running better or at least point me in the right direction.

Will need some more background info, in.....

Windows version you using and is it fully upto date?

What was this site that had you change config settings, would need to know whats been changed.

What type of issues are you having now, info on error messages etc

Could try this guide in that it should get all junk etc off your PC, Basic computer maintenance everyone should do and as it uses CCleaner, can you post a list or screenshot of your Startups? (open Ccleaner and click Tools > Startup)
