Startup of Harddrive

Hi, due to a problem with one of the clusters on my harddrive I had to have my harddrive reformmated. We then ghost copied Windows XP Professional to a slave, then copied XP Pro onto the original harddrive. The harddrive copied everything and seems to be working okay. Problem is, when I start up my computer, before allowing Windows XP to open up I get this message on a black screen that shows the system info. Also states that system health is OK

A: Drive Error
Pri Slave Drive - ATAPI Incompatible
Press F1 to Resume

Can anyone give me some help as to how to make Windows XP just startup without having to press F1 to Resume. Apparently the system is starting up in the wrong drive but even after my brother and I tried going into the system and changing the startup drive it wouldn't open up through the correct drive "C".

The other problem and the one that started all this mess is that I get a error message about the minidump. I donlt think this is relevant to the start up question but I mentioned it anyway.

I was going to get a new harddrive but I'm hoping this one will hold up as this is an older Systemax computer and I've already put a lot of additional memory into it and it really worked great for the last 3 or 4 years.

If I read your post correctly, unplug the drive that isn't being used as the boot drive and see if that corrects the error that you are seeing. Do you have the drives jumpered correctly ( master/slave )?

 

Thanks, I'll have to check and see about that as a possibility. My brother was the one doing the installing with the harddrives and it is possible he pit the wrong one in as the boot drive. I'll try it out as soon as I can and let you know. Thanks
