Not sure if this is where I should post this. My brother just gave me his computer which was loaded with XP. I connected my own monitor and turned it on. It brings up the Dell start up logo then shows it loading XP then the screen turns to static. I can hear the hard drive trying to do something but nothing ever happens. I tried putting my XP disk in to try to reload it and hard booted it but nothing. Any suggestions?

Have you been into BIOS to see how the boot order is?It might be F2 setup when you first boot hit that and make sure BIOS is set to boot from CD DRIVE first.
