Could anyone please advise me on which startup programs I am safe to disable. I have included a screenshot from TuneUp Utilities Startup Manager...

The ones I have unticked I think myself are safe to disable. Its the others I am not too sure of. It reccomends I disable Intel Common User Interface Module. It says its a serious security threat as you can read in the screenie.

I just want as little junk loading up at the start as possible. I was lucky with this PC however, as it came without all the usual junk they bundle! No Norton, No AOL, etc.

    You can loose the

    Dell Media Experience
HD audio panel ( its can easily be acessed by the Control Panel )
Windows media player sharing service ( unless you going to be sharing media )

but that a small list of startups so nice job if you been tweaking Wayne.

Definitely remove the Dell media experience it slows kit down no end.

Do you need the Windows sidebar?

For the other I agree with Halo, unless you spend lots of time changing your settings why have a tsr wasting resources in the system tray?

If you want to stop the security centre nagging every time you install a new program try this

    start>controlpanel (classic view)
    select security centre
select change the way security centre alerts me
select don't notify me and don't display....

If you have trouble with running several apps at once on the broadband post again there is a known Vista bug here with some routers.
