Startup Repair Loop

I’ve been sent here to the software forum from malware removal forum in hopes that I can get by this Startup Repair Loop I’m experiencing.

My son’s PC, DELL – Windows 7, 64bit, seems to be stuck in a Startup Repair Loop. He was apparently listening to music videos before this problem started.

As instructed by the Malware Removal Forum Team, I’ve run the “FRST64” and several “fixlist” files and the PC still boots to the startup repair window. As a final try, it was recommended that I try to install one of my restore points. I’ve tried several of them without success. System files were not changed due to error during system restore.

Any advice on the next step to take to repair my sons PC?

Actually, it's just that this is volunteer and many of us aren't around all the time.

You can attempt a non-destructive recovery and Windows will place all old data in a folder on the hard drive called windows.old for you. You will have to fully update and reinstall all applications after the install is completed.

You can also pull the hard drive, connect it via USB to another PC and recover any data on the drive if need be beforehand should you have such a preference.
