Startup Woes

Anyone ever hear of this happing to anyone else?

I've spent hours trying to get My AMD Athlon 1800 to boot up properly

But all I get is the Background to my desktop. I've gone into Task Manager

to see if there is a program that is sucking alot of RAM. But all I found was

a Nortons exe file was some how screwing with me. I turnned off this exe file

and walla I get the rest of my desktop. What the HELL?????... and

The exe file is (Symlcsvc.exe). Do you think I should Uninstall

Nortons System Works 1st and then reinstall it ?...

 

I think uninstalling and reinstalling it should do the trick. If it does, I suggest that you run a virus scan immediately to be sure that you weren't infected when Norton wasn't looking. There are viruses and trojans that Norton doesn't pick up, however, which is why I have another (probably not very common) scanner called F-Prot. It works quite well when Norton doesn't find things and I recommend it highly, but that is just my opinion.

The One problem is that I have 2 drive 20 miles to work on it.
This PC is @ my Fater's home.

So you can enter the task manager?
Try "new task"and type "explorer"
