I saw the first episode a couple weeks back but nothing since. I thought it was pretty well-done, simultaneously funny and disturbing. It's an interesting premise for a show, I can't recall anything similar being done.

I saw it too for the first time last week. Funny and very odd . . . "It's not OK" . . . lol

i think its sick!! (pun not intended) there is nothing particularly funny about mental illness, esp. bulimia and anorexia. neither does it reflect the damage that these people do to their bodies.
ie: the policeman would have rotted out all of his teeth by now. most people with this disorder are also taking massive amounts of laxitives...imagine what that does to your sex life!
it is a poor reflection of American society when man made illness is reflected in such a way that 'it IS ok'.
none of these people appear to have any real problems. most people who have turned their self hatred to such extremes have multiple 'issues'.
however the catch phrase also immediately caught on in this house! and, if i could get past my experiences with people that actually do spend their lives in mental anguish, it was funny in its own peculiar way.

monk?? O.C.D. is also not a particularly amusing condition either.

(iespell just turned your name into 'manhole'. it does that a lot with the puter names, but that was one of the funniest. lol)

Manhole..I don't like the implications of that!

Yeah, I suppose Monk is along those same lines.

I haven't been "officially" diagnosed, but I believe I may have a pretty serious case of OCD. I actually think OCD is pretty funny.

Although tourets wins hands down as far as funny illnesses go. I mean seriously, a condition that makes you swear uncontrollably! How funny is that?

EDIT - No offense to anyone who has tourets. I'm sure that it is a difficult thing to deal with. I just always think about that chick from Duece Bigalow screaming from the car at people.

i think my problem is that a lot of my life experiences have been with extremes. i kinda forget theres a middle ground. people i have known with OCD have been mentally totally paralyzed by it. ditto those I've known with 'real' phobias. i just don't count the 'in betweens'. I'm still not sure that starved is a realistic representation of eating disorders though. it is possible to have just a little bit of a disorder, but consistently throwing up isn't just a little bit. i dunno.

Well, it's not like the show is glorifying the illness or portraying it in a positive light (unless it's changed since the first episode.) Yeah the people have personalities and end up in funny situations but it seemed to me like they were pretty upfront about how it was a serious malady and they were struggling with their lives because of it.
