I have been wondering about this so I decided to see what the boys in the Geekroom say. I consider this to be the place for definitive and erudite technical answers. So pull a new draft and think on this.

Most websites have a click button on their log-in that asks, Do you want to stay logged in?

Considering that sometimes the bad guys hijack someones website account, would it not be better to just always say, "Yes, keep me logged in forever" at every site you visit?

Gmail, for example, warns that you should have an alternate entryway in case someone takes your account and changes your password. But it the hacker arrives and finds someone is already logged it, aren't they stymied and must resort to saying, Curses, foiled again?

Just wondering. And thanks for the advice and freeware over the years,

Semantics. I stay logged into MG's, Email and FB all the time. Never close my browser.

I mark 'keep logged in on Major Geeks and sometimes forget to log off before shutting down and next time I crank up I'm still logged in. I also have that checked on some emails and all I have to do is click next and next to get in. I have also tried to log on to MG from a different browser while still logged in and the error thrown will tell me 'that account is already logged in'. So if a bad guy is bouncing around your places, sooner or later you'll see some indication.

There are a few members who don't show status. It can be seen by post times when someone has been here but not visible if you watch for it. I won't mention any names!

I don't stay logged in. I use 3 different devices on any given day. If I am logged into one of my email accounts already and switch devices it automatically signs me out of the other device. But that may be because I don't have "stay logged in" checked.
