Steam Calliope tune

I'm not a fan of any particular type of music but I do enjoy burning CDs that I can play in the car rather than listen to live radio.

Most are songs from a time when I wore a younger man's clothes.

I've been trying to find a particular tune that probably did well on the Hits list or I wouldn't have heard it. :)

Of course, I don't remember the name but I do remember it was a steam calliope. No voice, no lyrics, just a catchy tune played on a steam calliope.

I'd whistle it, but you can't hear me. <g>

Anyway, I've been searching the web, downloading samples, etc. and have had no luck. I do know it's NOT, I repeat NOT, Barnum And Bailey's Favorite nor The Billboard. Other song titles listed on the jacket of CLOWN AND MIDWAY MUSIC Volume 1 don't seem to fit the bill, except maybe The Whirl Wind. That title sounded like a possibility, but a search yielded no mp3 with those words in that title.

It's reminiscent of a carrousel or country fair. A short chorus length tune that is repeated over and over with slight variations.

Anyone have a clue (talk about trivia)?

Not much to go on. Was this on the radio at some point? If so, any idea about when? Only other catchy calliope tune that comes to mind is the endless ditty that played years ago at the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse at Disneyland, and that would have been back in the 60s.

It was on the radio and it's been a loooong time since I listened to that music box.

I go to Disney at least twice every year (120 miles down the raod) and don't recall hearing it there. Then again I've only been in the Treehouse twice and don't recall hearing any music.

That's one of the problems with memory at my age. You can't remember what you've forgotten. :)

    Thanks.

That looked like a good place to look. But (ah...the big but) I tried every song on that page. No joy!

Based on the sound, now that I've listened to a real steam calliope and assuming my RealPlayer produced an accurate rendering. I'd say that the recorded tune I'm looking for was probably played on an organ, imitating a steam calliope and recorded in a studio. It was probably a 45.

I thought the tune might be title "Steam Calliope" or "The Calliope" similiar to the tune titled "The Happy Organ" by Dave Cortez (circa 1950s). A search on LimeWire and then Google on those titles did not yield much.

Is there a better search engine for tunes?
