The title is a little misleading .

“We don’t have evidence of credit card misuse at this time. Nonetheless you should watch your credit card activity and statements closely.”

It was the Forums that was compromised, not the actual steam client servers.
It also stated there are only a handful of "Forum accounts" known to have been compromised , they issued the warning as a safeguard. Simply recomending a password change to all "Forum Users" and also said "It's not a bad idea to change your steam account password especially if your Steam and Forum password are the same"
Very casual like.
I don't think it's quite as bad as that article makes it sound because the actual warning from steam that popped up on my PC didn't read as dramatically.

yeah, it didn't sound that bad at first with Playstation Network, until they released what really happened.

Well this did happen nearly a week ago, the "Attack" was executed on Nov 6.
I think they would know by now if it was more serious.

Psssh. What happened was that the forum servers were compromised. Forums went down and stayed down until everything was back to safe parameters again. Valve also says that a database may have been accessed and if that's the case, then account info may have been accessed. Account info that is encrypted two ways and sideways, and hardly worth decrypting, due to he lack of financial gain involved. Way too many "if" and "possibly" and "might have" in what happened to deserve any form of panic or paranoia.

In other words, move along, nothing to see here.

While we only know of a few forum accounts that have been compromised, all forum users will be required to change their passwords the next time they login. If you have used your Steam forum password on other accounts you should change those passwords as well.

We do not know of any compromised Steam accounts, so we are not planning to force a change of Steam account passwords (which are separate from forum passwords). However, it wouldn't be a bad idea to change that as well, especially if it is the same as your Steam forum account password.
