Steam problems

Hey,

A Friend of mine is having a problem with an unknown error when he tries to load up CS or CZ or source using steam.

When he tries to start CS 1.6 the little window saying "Preparing to play Counter-Strike" comes up but then an error message saying:

Could not load filesystem dll.
File System crashed during construction.


We have tried every thing that we can think of to fix the problem and we have looked exstensively through the Steam forums and found nothing to do with this error.

Here are some thing we have tried:

1. Reinstalling Steam and Counter-Strike
2. Virus check
3. Spyware check
4. System Restore
5. Free Dll fixer off internet

Please could someone give us some more suggestions as to how to sort this problem and to what it could be that has caused this problem.

I would suggest you backup everything you want to keep and format your hard drive and reinstall your os.
