STEAM related games setting up windows hotkeys???

    i have no idea what's causing this, but when i play Day of Defeat, the counter-strike mod, for some reason, it sets up windows hotkeys. when i hit "TAB" to check multi-player scores, it takes me to the desktop, like i hit "ALT + TAB". When i hit "L", it logs me off windows. "R" takes me to the desktop & pulls up the "RUN" box, and there are a few other keys as well. ANY idea what could be causing this? it's driving me crazy when i'm trying to play. thanks a ton.
