Stereo mix option windows 7

I have some HD Conexant sound card on my laptop, with 7. When I want to play music through my sound card ... well I cant ... :confused
I've read its disabled on newer computers because people were recording music? I want this feature back, It just bugs me that I cant do what I can do on my desktop computer!

I've been to recording properties and showed disabled devices.
Nothing is there except for the normal Mic, anyone know what I'm talkin' bout? How to help me? :-o

What is your make and model of laptop?

Didit originally come with Windows 7 or have you installed it later? if the latter then did you make sure that your Laptop was Windows 7 compatible with running the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor?

It is a uh, Gateway NV53 and It came with 7 already installed.

You could click the Scan your PC link on the right or go here http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/dlcenter.asp?Tab=My
type in your serial number and have Gateway point you to all the drivers for your particular computer.
