STILL can't boot with XP theme

I WISH my theme prob was as simple as codesarahs.
Yep, it's still reverting back to classic every time I boot-up.

have you tried using a third party theme manager i use this one " http://www.alienware.com/community/alienguise/theme-manager.aspx " its free and it beats the boring old windows themes.

I think that EVERYONE who's had theme prob's should be directed to Alienwares site, even if it's just for this app.
I can't believe I missed this, I've ivsited the site in the past but never saw the theme app.

glad to see you have this issue sorted,i have been using this app for years as i like the darker style themes and it goes well with the nasa night launch theme i have in firefox.

Hi-ya, guess who...
Alienware is great but when it's running there's a kernal conflict wth my messenger, so I have to disable the theme app. just to read emails & use IE.
Is there a folder somewere I can drop in the themes folder...? Then hopefully I can run both Alienware & messenger at the same time.
This is really bugging me. :crycry
It feels like I'm the only one with this prob.
(Is it a con to get everyone off XP & on to another platform)???

sorry about this issue just wondering firstly which theme did you download there is one for vista only and one for xp&vista.you may have downloaded the vista theme and that is what is causing the problem.if you got the right theme what version of windows messenger are you using this to may be the problem.
like i said i have been using this theme for a looooong time and have had no trouble hopefully i can help you sort it out.

I got the "Xenomorph slim" Theme Manager. (Well cool).
I can't rem. if it was Vista of Vista/Xp... can I have the direct link again. :-o

sorry had it wrong you have got the right theme not sure about the messenger it may be a compatibility issue with that version i am using an older version i will have to check that out let you know.by the way it is 3:00 pm here

 

this is windows Xp media center theme for all versions of Xp,
same as Xp but in a royal blue gloss,looks a lot nicer than the original.
BTW..It's an official windows released program

been doing some research and you mentioned at one stage that in your display properties menu in the appearance tab that windows and buttons was grayed out.is this still the case.also could you check in system properties,advanced tab,performance settings,visual affects scroll right down to the bottom of the list and you will see "use visual styles on windows and buttons" if this is checked uncheck it press apply and close all boxes.see if that helps

I'd already checked the visual styles a while ago, it was unchecked anyway... I tried turning it on but after applying I went back only to find it had turned itself off again?!? :confused Lil' bugga'

here hoping we can get this sorted today.ran into something in the piriform forum regarding errors with the display panel applets and someone was having similar issues to what you are having.they suggested to run a program called "dial a fix",not sure if you have tried this solution there maybe errors in your registry that are causing these issues.you can download the program from here " http://majorgeeks.com/Dial-a-fix_d4899.html ".when you run the program on the right you will see registration center tick all the boxes in this category and then press go.
i ran this to have a look at it last night and it seems to have issues with internet explorer 8 so just skip any prompts regarding them.hope this helps good luck.

I managed to aquire D.A.F from a link left (if I rem. correctly) by Halo.
I took a quick look but was quite tired after the other night, haven't run it yet but will do now it's had a few thumb's up.

As U've probably already guessed Pistol left an attachment holding the "Royale" theme, so I picked it up & ran it... so far so good.
Needless to say I'll have to wait until I boot-up again to see if it holds, BUT I will be runnin' the Dial-A-Fix L8A. (after a bit of sleep). rolleyes
I'll keep you posted on the progress.

Was runnin' SP2 with upgrade to 3 had BSOD x3 (Grrrrrr). Back to SP2 then 3 AGAIN.
Serious pain in the arse. Lol
I may have to end here 4 the time being, it's getting to that time again & I should get SOME sleep this time.

I booted up this morning & guess what... yep, back to the old school. Lol
I've decided to start using FireFox again, I think there maybe various conflict's using the new IE8. What a joke.
Anyway, I've still to prat about with the scheme & "color" setting's but I think this time will B o.k.
Thanx 4 the "Royale" theme, that'll still get used from time2time.
