sup guys, a while back i posted a thread complaining about frame dropps on my comp. i upgraded my ram like yall said, so i know its not that, specs are at the bottom. i also made sure i updated my drivers, but i still get frame dropps. i stop my fps at 90.9, and i know with my specs it shouldnt even dropp to 90.8. whats the problem???

oh the fps i get that from is from cs 1.6.

    PLZ HELP!!!

90 FPS????? This seems fine to me!. Doesn't the human mind only contemplate 60 FPS anyway?

i can get 100 fps, but i block it off at 90.9. i would have no problem getting 300 fps without developer, but for some reason while im playing my frames will drop to about 60 for about 2-3 seconds, and then jump back to 90.9. then it stays stable for roughly 5 seconds, and then repeates. thats not the only game it does it in either, i ran the cs source stress test, and got the same results???

What about spyware?how goods your security?have you kept your firewall and windows up to date?have you looked at you cpu usage when you arnt using an application to see if it spikes?

well seeing as how i just reinstalled windows this past weekend, and i know not to go to naughty sites :), i can safely say that i have almost no spy ware on my computer. i ran adaware anyway just to make sure, but it came up fine. i know that the reinstallation was not what did it, because it was happening before also, when i had my pc 2700 ram. im really stumped right now. ive checked everything, and still dont understand why it would do that. i'll prolly buy a new video card, and c if thats the problem if we cant figure it out.

Try running 3dmark 2003 and compare it to what other people get, your system is about the same as the one in my sig,you should get a score close to 11000.If you do I dont think your hardware will be at fault.

Also, if whatever game runs smoothly even when it drops down to 60 FPS, for a second or two, is it really noticeable? Have you ever wondered about all those websites that show FPS for different games? I hope you realized that this was AVG FPS (they take what the lowest fps and and highest and divide by two...well, a bit more detailed than that...)

ran the 3dmark 03, and my score came out to 9956, its about 1000 off of your score, is that ok, or is there a problem with that? and yes there is a slight difference is the way i see the game when the frames drop. not major, but with my new computer i would have expected it to keep the frames above 80 atleast. im not going to die with the performance loss, but i just wanna know whats making it do that.

    " I thought it was 30!"

30fps for actual video that has some blurring in it. For monitors, where the images are static and there is no transition between them, 60fps is pretty much the limit.

P.S. 1000 points in 3dmark doesn't mean a whole lot. It might seem like it, but it's still just a benchmark. Even if you had identical components, there would be a bit of a difference.

Theres nothing wrong with that score,so I would say your hardware is fine, are you seeing the drop in all games or just online games,if its just online games,it could be your connection, server or how many people you play against,I havnt plyed CSC,but in Call of duty UO,I have to turn the detail down when playing online with 32 players and there no way I can have AA on,yet with 20 players its fine.

you could try testing your connection to make sure you are getting what you pay for someone posted this in off topic.

    5326.4 Kbps

    652 K bytes/sec

these speeds were taken from www.satx.rr.com , which is my cable provider. i took the internet test in the link, and it ranged between a cable modem and a t2 line(alittle closer to t2 line). im sure my internet connection is fine. must be that i have my quality turned all the way up, but i didnt think it would matter in cs 1.6. in source i could understand this. thks for the help guys it is really appreciated. <3

What I mean by turn the detail down is from the maximum setting,in single player its fine, but with the extra cpu usage when calculating where the other players are it is unable to feed the video card, causing a slow down.

If lowering the detail helps, please post and say so,if it doesn't and it still slows down every 5 secs, post also, lowering the detail might treat the symtom and not be the cure!

ok, srry about the late reply, but i havnt been on cs source lately. i downed all of the settings on cs source, and everything started running fine, but i was wondering if heat could be an issue here. my computer has been running alittle bit hotter lately, prolly because of this crazy South Texas Heat, but could heat be whats making my frames drop?

Try setting 3dmark on loop, leave it running for 3 hours, then check your scores. Also run the cpu benchmark in sandra to make sure your cpu is operating correctly

dont have any right now, but i can get some really quick. im pretty sure thats what it is, because i broke the cords on one of my fans. im only running with 4 80mm's right now.

ok, i ran sandra, and 1 major thing stood out to me.

"Warning 235...vcore less than rated minimum, check vcore setting."

also said that main board temp was too high. i havnt overclocked atall, how is this?

ok ku-sama i checked those settings, and both were on processor scheduling. what im worried about is my mainboard temp with out even being over clocked. i didnt think that 1 fan would make that much of a difference.

im gonna go ahead and my all new fans, and see what kind of difference that makes. also i will look into some good thermal greese.

oh you know it, the ones im looking at are like $11.00 each. they damn well better have speed controllers on them :D

my case comes with a controller on it. its the mge quantum one. oh and by the way, does anybody know how to install a 120mm fan on the case. i wann put it next to the two fans on the pannel that comes off, but cant figure out how. anybody know?

the problem is that the case is mesh, and not solid plastic.
