Still having problems after virus removal

I got some great help here cleaning a virus off my computer using the Read and Run this list from the malware removal forum. I am still having problems whenever I go on the net. Pages will freeze or not load completely whenever I go to sites such as ebay or ehow. Even my email page will feeze at times. I have waited over 10 minutes for a page to load with no luck. I have to go back or refresh the page which only works sometimes. It does this sporatically and only when I go on the web. It happens with both IE and Firefox. Also when I shut down the computer it shows that some programs are not responding such as windows.exe or task bar, and I have to click on end them now. I was not able to run the MGtools part of the Read and Run list because it was listed as having some sort of problem. I have XP home on a HP Pavilion 552w.
