I use a digital camera to take video of my grand kids and such, but because I can't pause it short of stopping the recording and starting again, I end up with several different videos. I would like a (preferably) free piece of software that could take those multiple file and stitch them together into one and it would be nice if I could edit them also such as delete parts etc.
my camera saves the video as .MOV files, but I have a converter that I can change the file type if necessary.

I use a Canon Powershot camera, Win 7 Pro.
Any ideas would really be appreciated.

Thanks cipher, but I think you might have misunderstood. I have a converter, but I need something that can merge or stitch two short videos into one longer one.

Caliban I don't need no steenkin' title!

I've tried these in the past: ASX Maker and CombiMovie - to be honest, though, it's been a while since I've used them, so no guaranty as to their compatibility with your version of Windows...

I've used Windows Movie Maker to do such a task. It's free and already on your PC.

Thanks everyone. I think MS Movie Maker will provide the solution I need.
Again tanks to all that contributed.

I use Virtual Dub to join AVI files. It can handle other formats, but is "happiest" with DivX or XViD AVI files. There's a few other 'flavors' of Virtual Dub that work too. Sometimes, Virtual Dub will error out if the file has a variable audio bit rate. If this happens, use either NanDun, VirtualDub MP3 Freeze, or possibly the non-relative Avidemux. These are all VERY popular programs (and they're 100% free!), and great guides can be found at AfterDawn and at VideoHelp.
