    Hi Everyone,
I am recieving an error at start up stop 0x00000024(0x00190203, 0x82f610b0, 0xc000010z, 0x00000000)
I have read and tried to follow this thread started by evilflame and answered by studiot http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=122974

The problem I am running into is that At the welcome to setup press R for recovery console goes to a screen that says
Windows Home XP setup and on the bottom of the screen it says:
Examining 32986MB Disk O at ID O on bus O on atapi............

It has been sitting like that for a couple of hours now.
Can anyone tell me if this is normal or if I am doing somethig wrong?

This is a Dell Dimension 4800C

    Thanks in advance,

    Dan :cry

Examining 32986MB Disk O at ID O on bus O on atapi............
    First off, it's
    Those are zeros.
It looks like you have a messed up hard drive. If you have a spare hard drive, swap them out and install windows on the new one. Then, put the old one in as a slave. If you can access your old files, copy them from the old one to the new one. If you can not, your hard drive is unreadable.
    Any more help, I'm here.

Before installing a new hard drive, try this.
Run Chkdsk /f /r to detect and resolve any file corruption. You must restart your PC before the disk scan begins . If you cannot start the system due to the error, use the Recovery Console and run Chkdsk /r

Hi and thank you cat w 9 lives,zdawg32 and Musksnipe,
Zdawg32 I am really trying to avoid taking out this HD if possible. If all else fails I will do as you suggest I do have have a clean 10gig HD. If this is a must I am sure I will be coming for more help thanks.

Musksnipe I cannot get to Run Chkdsk /f /r either through any boot or the OS disk it hangs on the page Examining 32986MB Disk 0 at ID 0 on bus 0 on atapi............
This is after I press the r to go to the recovery console.
Are there any other ways to get to the recovery?

    Thanks again,

    Dan

    Hi zDawg32,
I hope I am not being a pain in the butt, but I really need to try something to get this comp running. Do you think I should just do the HD swap that you decsribed earlier?

    Thank you,

    Dan

You either have bad disc sectors OR the file system or partition is corrupted OR your EiDE/ SCSI drivers are corrupted.
It doesn't look good, if you can't even get into your system using the OS disc.

Have you tried going in in, in safe mode?

    Hi Musksnipe,
I have tried every boot option:
    safe mode
    safe mode with networking
    last known good configuration
and safe mode with command prompt
They all bring me back to the same screen:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or backup utilities.Check your hard drive configuration and check for any updated drivers. Run CHDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, then restart your computer.

And when I use the OS disk and hit r for the recovery it just hangs on a screen that says:
Examining 32986MB Disk 0 at ID 0 on bus 0 on atapi............

Thats the whole story so far.
So am I (S.O.L.) as they say?

Sure do appreciate all the help guys.

    Thank you ,

    Dan

    PROBLEM SOLVED YAHOOOOOOO!
    :-D:-D:-D:-D:cool
As much of a pain the (you know what) this has been the solution turned out to be quite easy.
I wound up taking the hard drive out and slaving it another computer. As soon as the computer booted up CHKSK starting checking file E:
    It said:
The type of file system is NTFS, The volume is dirty.
It went to work and did it's thing and in about 15 minutes it was all done.
When I put the hard drive back in the original comp it made me go to setup and set the time and date.
It then booted up in normal startup and runs fine with no loss of data what so ever.

    Many thanks to:
    cat w 9 lives
    zDawg32
and Musksnipe your help is greatly appreciated!!!
