Stop 0x0000007B Error

Hi recently a friend of mine gave me her computer because she managed to download viruses and not have any antivirus program. I took out her hard drive from her laptop because the viruses had complete control so I couldn't do anything if I tried logging it (Taskbar, Taskmanager, shortcuts... etc disabled). I removed the viruses but now when it tries to start I get the Stop 0x0000007B message. Here is some information about her computer and the full blue screen technical information:

Dell Inspiron 6000
Intel Centrino
Windows XP Professional
STOP: 0x0000007B (0x0F8A87528, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

Here is what I have tried so far:
chkdsk /r , fixboot, fixmbr from the Recovery Console

The final option of course is to reformat and reinstall the OS, but since its not my computer I was trying to avoid that. Thank you in advance for any help/tips/suggestions!

First boot into the BIOS and check that the hd is detected. It might be a simple case of not having something connected correctly when putting the hd back in the computer, hence the Inaccessible Boot Device error.
If the hd appears in the BIOS, we've ruled out a bad connection or a faulty IDE cable.

Try a repair install of XP. Dell doesn't supply the windows disks so you will need to be able to find the same flavor (Home or Pro) as is installed on the computer.

Thank you it worked. Just have to get rid of some of the programs the viruses installed and get the internet to work and the computer is fine.
