    Hello,

I initially posted this problem in the Malware Removal forum under http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=247096. Log files now indicate that the machine is clean but I am still unable to boot in normal mode.

As you can see in the other thread, many different methods to correct this issue were tried. It was suggested I post in this forum as the issue appears to be software related.

Here is what is currently happening:

    - Machine gives a BSOD with every attempt to boot to normal mode. When Windows loads in safe mode the attached error message appears.

    - I have made attempts to alter the pagefile size, going from nothing to a large amount. No matter what, Windows changes it on reboot back to a 256mb temporary file. I even get a message stating that Windows had to create a temporary file when I access the virtual memory section under System Properties.

Thanks in advance for any/all suggestions you can give. I left this message pretty basic at this point since you will be able to get much more of the background info from the original thread.

    Thank you!

Another suggestion for you as this seems to have also fixed it for some people. The problem with this type of error is that there is no single solution that works for everybody.

Anyways, I would give the below a try:

http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/9017/regedit.gif Copy the bold text below to Notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "All files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

Now try to reboot into Normal Mode.

It merged in successfully with the registry but unfortunately the problem remains on reboot :(

    Tough one, this...

Yes, I have tried it previously but did it again just in case: 'No problems found'. While there, I also tried to do a restore again - I haven't tried that since early in the process and it would fail on those occasions. This time it actually started the restore process, but has been on the 'restoring files' dialog for about 40 minutes now. It's either stuck in a loop or it's doing something as the meter is still going back and forth and I hear/see hard drive activity.

Going to work now and I'll let it go but I suspect it will still be 'restoring files' when I return...lol
