Stop Error Message

Hello.
I am glad I was able to resolve my last issue . But there is another one that has manifested.

When I turn on the computer, now I am presented with a blue screen that contains part of the following message,

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

*** STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF7C8363C, 0xC000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

The message also suggests it could be the result of a virus or a corruption on the hard drive.

I really do not know how to run a virus scan being that I cannot open windows. I have the anti-virus software on a CD, but do not know if I could scan the system being that windows cannot be opened.

The suggestion was made to run chkdsk /p. I did and it said it "found one or more errors on the volume". After that, I ran chkdsk /r. This took over an hour, and after it finished and I exited Recovery Console and re-booted, I got the same error message.

I would like to take whatever steps necessary to not lose some files that I want to preserve, such as those in "My Documents" and "Program Files". I could always run these through virus scans later.

The Operating System I am running is Windows XP Professional Version 5.1.

Can you boot to Safe Mode?

No. I cannot boot using safe mode, or last known good configuration, or even from the CD-ROM itself. This stop error message always follows each attempt. It is also the same error code each attempt.
