Stop mouse from auto scrolling

When I depress my mouse wheel in Thunderbird, and MS Excel a small circle appears and than just moving the mouse causes the screen to scroll.
I find that irritating and would like to know how to disable that feature. :confused
I am using a MS Bluetooth wireless mouse in Win 7 Pro.

Hmm, I did some searching but did not find a software solution for this except in the Firefox and IE browsers. I'd guess the wheel button on your mouse requires a light touch. My mouse requires somewhat firm pressure on the wheel to invoke AutoScroll, so I don't have the problem and, indeed, find AutoScroll a convenient feature. So, all I can suggest is replacing your mouse with one that requires firmer pressure to middle click.

 

Just took a look at my portable version of Thunderbird. It has not option to disable AutoScroll.

 

plodr, thanks for the reply. Your right it can be changed in the options in FF but it is not available in TB. The software suggested doesn't seem to work either, unless I'm using it incorrectly.
