At the suggestion of my brother, I downloaded Stopzilla and Ad-ware 6.0 (from MG website) and have been running it for about 1 1/2 weeks. I also download the avail plug-ins for Ad-Ware (Messanger Control Plug-In & OE/WM Control Plug-In). The reason my brother told me to download these two plug-ins is that because I use MSN Messenger, it leaves a port open for popups to get in. When surfing the net, sometimes I will receive a message from Stopzill telling me that the current website is trying to open up a popup. And asks if I want to "allow" or "block" that popup. I am still receiving several popups. The type of popups that I am getting are popups that have no address at the top of the message.

To give an example: I received a popup from American Singles

americansingles.com - Free Personals, Online Dating, Chats, millions of members
This line is typed on the very top of the popup (in the blue area (windows color schem))

Does anyone know why only these types of popups are getting through Stopzilla. Because it seems that I have been getting more and more of them.

    Thanks,
    D

You get this while surfing the Internet in general or they just pop up on their own when ur doing something like notepad and no Internet browsers are open?

I'll assume ur using IE, which version please.

I went to the website and am not getting popups. Double check that messenger is disabled manually. Go to control panel, administrative tools, services and double click Messenger. From there, choose disable as well as stop if it is running. If that does not work, I suggest a better popup blocker. Im not a fan of popup blockers because it is pathetically easy to code and for someone to charge for it is a ripoff. Also, many code them quickly and poorll blocking windows you want to popup. Your better off using a 3rd party browser for blocking, for example Myie2, Avant or Green Broswer, all downloadable from our browser section. Try those and see if the popups continue. Also, I am assuming you updated Ad-Aware before you ran it, of course.

I doubled check that messenger is disabled, which is was. The only time I get these popups is when I'm surfing the net. When my system is standing still (IE 6.0 not open) popups don't open.

Anyway, I have no idea what to do about this. Thanks
