Storing 35mm negatives on disc

    I have boxes of old 35mm negs and I want to preserve them on disc. Reading old threads there hasn't been any recommendations on scanners. Does anyone know anything about the Epson Perfection 4490, or Canon Canoscan 8600f or any others you have used and found okay? Any help appreciated.
