Hi guys. Hopefully someone can help me here.

So I've just completed a re-install of Windows XP (service pack 2)

The audio is onboard Realtek HD.

I installed it from my motherboard (MSI) disk, everything seemed ok. However I don't have the original Windows volume control like I used to have. And so no audio will play.

The strange thing is that when i go into the 'Realtek HD audio manager' and do the 3d sound test, everything plays out fine!

    I'm so confused.

When I go Start > Accessories > Entertainment > Volume control ; I get the error message "There are no active mixer devices available" etc.

And ideas? or does anyone need any more info?

    Thanks in advance.

    Ozzy

go in to Start > Control Panel > System > Click on Hardware Tab > Click Device Manager. Take a look under the sound, video and game controllers is there anything listed there and if so do any of them have a yellow exclamation mark on.

Hi. Thanks for the speedy response to my question.

But it's all started working correctly after a third install of the sound drivers/software.

    Very strange

    thanks anyway
