    Hi Guys,

Firstly let me say Hi to you all, Im new to these here forums although Ive been using the Geeks website for a while now, so easy with the flaming eh :p

Anyhaw, problem I have is that I have just just put together a machine, specs are:-

    ECS nforce3a mobo
    Radion ALL-IN-WONDER 9800 pro
    Sempron 2800 processor
1 GB of 3200 corsair memory
    200 GB maxtor SATA drive
    2 sony DVD Burners

Right this is the strange bit. I have stuck it all tohether and installed XP Pro SP2 on there along with all the standard software that comes with such a GFX card. The computer works fine apart from this.

When I turn the machine off and boot it up for the first 2 or three times it will boot fine but hang after 30-40 seconds. Each time I do this It will hang but after 2 or 3 resets the problem resolves itself, I have checked the logs for these periods, but all would appear fine.

Any ideas on how to resolve this or even to point out how I can find out what is happening would be great.

Weeeird - Have to admit booting up sequences are not exactly one of my strong points. Could try booting in safe mode and see if it hangs at the same point each time.

Are you running on just one stick of memory or two? If two, you could try taking out one stick and just run on one in case you have a dodgy mem stick.

If that dont work, disconnect all your hardware apart from hard drive and video card and try. If that works... add each bit of hardware 1 by 1 and see which one is causing the problem.

    Hope that helps a bit

Currently I am running with 2 sticks of 512mb 3200 DDR, was originally running with just the one but the problem was the same then. It is doing some strange things now that I have messed about a bit with it.

On boot up from cold start it will reset itself just before the Windows welcome screen, and then on the 2nd boot will get up and running np but again after about 2minutes will restart again.

    HELP!

ever think to do a virus scan?...granted its a brand new pc but if your on the net without a firewall or antivirus well...its a possibility.
Also if you have another video card try it. And you said you tried it with one stick of ram to begin with. Did you by chance take that first stick out and try it with JUST the other stick of ram?
i'd almost say video card, but if it was the video card from expierience you should lose feed to the monitor before the pc reboots itself.
