Strange Caption Button Symbols

    I have Windows XP and out of nowhere it started showing strange looking wingdings and shapes on the caption buttons, scroll buttons, radio buttons, and other buttons. I have it in classic mode. What file would I have to replace to get back to normal?

    Also, I can't access my font folder, or my computer just locks up.

    I fixed this problem.

    For example, in the start menu, the little black arrows are small computer mouses. The caption buttons on windows are just squares. Some checkboxes are just ugly looking black symbols.

    have you been changing the themes or apperance of XP at all?

    can you give us a screenshot at all?


    quicky to try can you revert back to the XP default look > reboot and then change back to the Classic look?

    also is this happening in Safe Mode ( oldie but a goodie ) ?
