    Hi,
    I have a strange problem here. My GH22NS50 CD/DVD Burner does not read/write any DVDs at all.
    It is a SATA Interface connected device, but in BIOS it is written that it is IDE.
    My PC spec. Motherboard: GA-X58-USB3 , Win7 Ultimate x86.

    I wondered why is this happening, updated firmware to TN03 which i downloaded from LG's official webpage, Support for Win7 was mentioned, but this din't solve the problem.
    After firmware-update windows detected new hardwae / installed it successfully and no change!
    In Computer, it is displayed as DVD-RW, in device manager next to Device type it is: DVD/CD-ROM drives. What is really confusing me is the date of the driver: 21.6.2006. (Looked up in Device Mnager > drives Properties > Driver > Driver Date)
    Another confusing thing, in same Properties Window > Details setting property to Device description it is CD-ROM drive...

    I do not know if any of these have any significant meaning but I am trying to give you as much info as possible.

    Greetings, eXtremefire.

    Just for info: did the drive ever work? Did some event occur that made the drive stop working? Does the drive read/write CDs? And, can you boot to the drive?

    Try the standard Microsoft fix, just to get it out of the way.

    @Caliban
    It is reading and writing CDs, I am not sure if it was able reading DVDs before, but I am sure that it never burned ones.
    The fix you applied didn't run because of some missing dll file I really didn't have time to look for the dll on the net.

    The fact that it can read/write CDs indicates to me that there is nothing wrong as far as the BIOS and firmware.

    What software are you using to attempt to burn DVDs? And what was the name of the missing .dll?

    My DVD burner uses the same 2006 driver and in Details says CDROM device.

    One thought is that DVD burners have two lasers: one that reads/writes CDs and one that read/writes DVDs. It is possible that the DVD laser has gone bad. How old is the drive? Has it worked on this computer before?

    @Caliban
    I tried several programs, Nero 8, 9, 10... MagicISO, ExpressBurn 4.40 which is a wonderful little program I strongly recommend. lts.dll is missing. And all programs say No Disk/Drive empty/insert a disk first...
    @sach2
    This drive is 2 months old I assembled this PC recently, but I do not use DVD burner very often so this was my first attempt, since this drive came.

    I tend to think the DVD laser is bad but Optical drives and me are like oil and vinegar.

    Can you try the drive in a different PC?
    Do you have a bootable DVD that you could try? [That should eliminate Windows drivers as the problem]
