Strange graphical artifact.

I seem to have an issue with either my Monitor or GPU. On the right side of my 22 inch there is a feint line of blue pixels. It runs all the way up and down the monitor. When taking screenshots or print screens the blue line will not show up. The line is very clearly visible when there is a dark or black background.

Anyways I've had this monitor without issues for almost a year now. It's a VisionQuest 22 inch Widescreen monitor. So far it's been a great monitor, and I do find it a bit strange that it would mess up like this at this time. I mean it's well passed the 3 month "If it doesn't break in 90 days, it most likely won't break for a long time" period, and it is far from old.

My GPU is an X1950 Pro AGP 512 MB. I am leaning more towards an issue with my monitor though. Otherwise it's functioning just fine.

    Any ideas?

:( Unfortunately, the problem is likely with the monitor, and not the video card. When video cards start to fail or act up, it is almost always an entire screen type of thing, and not just one line up one side, and I have seen the same problem in laptop LCDs and the only way to fix it was to replace the LCD, and in a few rare cases, to replace the video cable. Check the cable on your LCD and make sure it is securely connected at each end. Replace the cable if it isn't built in to the monitor. Chances are, replacing the cable won't work, but it's worth a shot.
Good luck! I wish I had more encouraging news for you... :cry

If your motherboard has on-board video, try removing the video card (unplug the power cord from the PC first ;) ) and use the on board video and see if there's any change. This will tell you right away if it's the video card or monitor. If you don't have on-board video, you should be able to pick up an older used AGP or PCI video card for about $10 or $15 at your local used PC store; any ol' card will work for testing purposes....

Well, after switching up the wire it didn't fix it. But the odd thing is just now I noticed it was gone. How random O_O.
