I keep getting these weird icons in the "my picture" section of "my documents." The first is one that says "thumbs" underneath it and is a picture of an orange and green gear. When I click on it say that "I am attempting to open a file of type "Data Base File" (.db). I keep deleting it but it keeps coming back. The second is an icon of a notebook and and when I click on that it just the computer is registered to me. I keep deleting them but they keep coming back. How can I get rid of them?

Thumbs.db is a file that saves thumbnails of the first frame of any images or movies you have within a folder. Keeping this file is okay, since when you delete the file, then view the folder with pics and movies it recreates this file.

But its really bothering me that it keeps reappearing. Is there anything I can do to stop this from happening?

I think I figured it out. I ran my virus scan in safe mode with all fiels displayed and then forgot to restore the default settings. Thanks theefool.

Then these instructions may help you!

If you want to turn OFF thumbs.db, here's how:
    1. Open up the Control Panel
    2. Select Folder Options
    3. Click the View tab
    4. Check "Do not cache thumbnails"
    5. Click the OK button

Hey guys Im new here, but i have enjoyed this website, and yeah it makes u feel geeky.

Anyway i have a question for my geeky brethern.

After a year on Iolo System Mechanic 4, i went back to Norton antivirus and system works, (I like it better), but i have three computers in the house and cant afford Nortons for them all.

I was wondering besides CCleaner which i like a lot is there a freeware out their that can do good disk cleans of old files. (No im not a pornster, but after having my system hijacked a dozen times I want to make sure my files are safe) ??????? anyway I need something not to complex because some of them you can delete system files on. any thoughts?
