    Maybe someone has seen this...

In Word 2000, when user tries to use the function "find", the window focus will switch randomly between document and find window. This doesn't happen in Excel, or any other Office 2000 application, just this one user's MS Word...

    Any clues?

    Couple questions:
Is the .doc big, have a lot of graphics, tables are you running a lot of stuff in the background

    Sounds like memory...

I've fixed it now... the problem was out company-wide trend antispyware solution - for some reason, every few seconds, it would try to scan the floppy drive (which was empty), and to do this, it would try to launch a process - which lasted 1 second. But because a new app was launched, Word lost focus, and when it gained it back automatically, it would focus in the wrong window.

I realised this by looking at the CPU Usage in Performance / Task Manager, and noticed that every 3 seconds, the CPU would have 100% usage, then immidiately, drop it back to 2%-3%.
