When I right-click on a folder there are strange options like "choke your chicken" and "please insert another nickle". I'm afraid someone will see it and think I'm weird, a perv or worse. Other than that my computer runs fine. Can anyone help?

what happens when you click the menu items? Does anyone else have access to your computer?

Do a system restore to a point before this was happening, and then you'll know whether someone has had access and been messing with your PC !

The "choke your chicken" just opens the thing. The "please insert another nickle" just makes the screen blink. The others don"t do anything. I had a party weekend before last. There was 25-30 people here. I have system restore turned off on advice from my brother(who has no idea whats causing this stupid problem).

Go to advanced user mode by pressing F8 on boot then scroll down to " Last Known Good Configuration " thats the same thing as a system restore, it takes your PC back to the last time it was running correctly !
P.S Bit of Advice, don't take anymore advice from your brother if he dosen't know what he's talking about !

It's still there. I'm running Vista. Wasn't there a way on XP to create file associations? I tried looking for that on Vista but could not find it. On XP I think it was in folder options. Thanks for your help!

If you have scanned for malware and come up clean I would restart system restore and create a restore point first. Then open regedit and search for those terms. They should come up under the Shell subkeys and can simply be deleted. Continue searching and deleting to the end of the registry.

Agreed with Earthling. If, after scrubbing the registry, the context menu is still screwy, the path is HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers, where you can simply delete any keys you don't want.

Thanks for all the advice. Before I could try the registry my girlfriend fixed it with a command window. She did something with a assoc command. She did it too fast for me to see. She is probably the one who put it there in the first place. Thanks again!

If it was done as a joke, I would love to know what she did!! :-D

To clarify: she got rid of the context menu entries by running an association command?

    (Agreed, Tim).

All right. She fixed it at lunch so I called her at work. I think I get it. She said someone(probably her) created a new file extension and assoc it to folders.!? Then they assoc the command to the new extension(I think that's what she said). She said she deleted the assoc command. She can explain it herself after 6:00.(Seattle).

If it was a "joke" program, I WANT IT.
Look in Add/Remove for any program names that aren't familiar.

OK. She wont tell me how she did it in Vista, but I figured out how to do it on my old desktop running XP. Control Panel/Folder Options/File Type/Folder/Advanced/New Action=choke your chicken Application used to perform action=explorer.exe Then open my computer and right-click on C:\ or any directory. Whew!
