Strange start up

I installed a new Mobo last week and have since then been getting this strange startup.
When i fist hit the button to fire up the PC i hear the fans for about 2 seconds then they stop next is a short burst of activity for less than a second and again stops then on the third attempt it fires up as normal.I have no other effect when the PC is running but it does take forever to shut down.

Any ideas please

 

I had a problem like that when i change my MOBO a few weeks agos to fixed my problem i have downgrade the bios 2 version down.

And now everything is fine.....

 

Funny I have the same thing ... I use a Gigabyte mobo, brand new system, the fans spin like mad for about 6 - 7 seconds, then stop, 4 seconds delay then start again, it will happen a random amount of times till it boots. Could be 2 could be 20. Tried everything, still does it with nothing on there but CPU, CPU fan, 1 RAM stick. I have the same CPU as you Bill, Core2Quad 2.66 800W PSU, 9200 GX2, Raptor Drive, 4GB 1066 DDR2 OCZ Ram.

The wierd thing is, you can tell which time its gonna boot, cuz when the fans first start to spin, there will be a very light click, then a vreeeiiing of the HDD spinning up.

Wierd.

 

I have done nothing to the PC but it seems to have sorted itself because it starts up on the first try now and i still have no idea what caused the problem?

No idea ... you obviously haven't changed any HW or changed BIOS settings?

I find if I restart via Windows it restarts first time but if I do it any other way including shut down via Windows it does it.

 

I updated the Bios but thats all.

 

Mmmmm dunno ... mine was doing it BEFORE BIOS update so I dunno ay ... what CPU do you use Clark?
