Strange wave effect on display after moving

I've looked everywhere and still haven't found a solution to this problem. Recently I moved to another location, and after setting up my computer I noticed something strange. What almost looks like a little wave is travelling up my display every few seconds. There are two of them that cycle from bottom to top and they are spaced about 5 inches apart. The best way to describe is like a ripple travelling through water, that is what it looks like when it hits whatever you are looking at.

I never had any problems before and am starting to think something got damaged, but even that just doesn't make sense, all my computer parts were handled gently and I couldn't imagine how something would get damaged.

I am using a Chaintech Geforce 6600 GT PCI-E Graphics card if this helps any. Also I don't think it has anything to do with the outlet because I tried unplugging the monitor from the computer and when the OSD came up the ripple effect was not there so I guess step 1 is figuring out whether it's the card or the monitor, how frustrating.

    Please help, thankyou.

Another thing I should mention is the display is also shaking, even when I unplug it from the computer and the OSD comes up it remains shaky so now I'm thinking it's probably not the card.

Sorry couldn't find an edit button

You only have like 5 minutes to edit one of your posts.

Yes, it sounds like your monitor is about to go.

I'm sure it must be something environmental but I just dont know what it could be. No one has ever seen this before?

Have you tried using the computer in a different location. Could be the wiring at that outlet or circuit.

Magnets and powercords (badly shielded speaker wire) can cause this on monitors.

In the end, it just sounds like you need to hunt for a new monitor....

i had the same problem when i switched from my old PS2 keyboard to a new USB lighted keyboard- i thought my 3 month old LCD monitor was dying. After some expierimenting i found that by moving the monitor a little further back on my desk and rerouting the keyboard cable so it did not go near the monitor all was ok. i would try rerouting all your cables to an arrangement as close as possible to your old setup, or as far as possible from your monitor. good luck.
