Stream stutters

Hi all. I have a problem with terrible stutters in both audio and video from streams I watch on a regular basis.

These streams used to work without any problems at all until a few weeks ago. I managed to get an infection in the system which turned out to be a Rootkit.Agent. It took an age to clean up and get rid of this but I am now satisfied that it has gone (please see http://www.howtogeek.com/forum/topic/rootkitagent-problem?replies=40).

The website i use is http://livefooty.doctor-serv.com/ and I always choose "stream 1" as thats the one that uses Sopcast (the program I have installed). When watching one of these through Sopcast the quality used to be perfect (at this point i should mention that my computer is a HP Pavilion dv5 1110em running Vista 32) but post infection they are terrible even if 100% buffered. Looking at my CPU monitor, both processors are maxed out, between 94-100%. This was never the case before infection either (this only happens when I'm watching a stream). I used to be able to have a few streams open and watchable but not anymore. What can be causing this? All my drivers are up to date and so is Sopcast.

This is driving me mad. Can anyone offer some explanation and/or help?

Security people tell me that the only way to be sure if infected by a rootkit is a wipe and clean install.
I suspect you might have something else you might not be aware of.
