I have a remote control from Streamzap (http:www.streamzap.com) for my computer. It has always performed flawlessly but after I cured a recent virus incident it does not load at startup.

I have checked my startups and it is listed and checked off. I have reloaded the software, uninstalled, reinstalled, ad nauseum. It still doesn't start.

If I install the software, which requires the device to be unplugged from the USB port, it comes up and works wonderfully. If I reboot the computer it does not start like it is supposed to do.

I have visited the website support page and it merely tells me to do what I have already done with no success.

Any suggestions as to why this anomaly might be occurring?

    Thanks,

    j

    Post your operating system.

So hardware or software? Does the software start when windows loads irrelevant of what start up items says,do you have an icon in your taskbar, does the software have a taskbar icon? If so when you expand the icon menu does it display the status of your device.

If you start up your device software manually through program files does the device start working.

After you've installed it check device manager for it,right click the device and check its status and make a note of the driver, now restart your computer and check device manager for the driver details and status, has the device disappeared or the driver file changed?

If the driver has changed follow this guide then reinstall the driver, you may want to try it anyway.

    Rikki,

    PROBLEM SOLVED

    For the record:

    Windows XP sp3

The hardware responds (receiver flashes the LED that says there is communication from the remote transmitter).

The icon in the taskbar is red when it is correctly loaded and greyed out when it is not.

The device will only start at Windows startup. It will not load manually.

In Remote Controls, Device Manager says the device is working properly (enabled).

When it is working the following is returned:

    Driver Provider: Streamzap, Inc.

    Driver Date: 9/15/2002

    Driver version: 1.12.0.0

    Digital signer: Not digitally signed

    Driver Files: C:\ Windows\System32\drivers\zremote.sys

I am able to left click on the icon and adjust the features and configuration of the device.

After reboot the icon is grey and I get a message that the device is not found on the unit when I click on it. The remote "talks" to the receiver and the light blinks.

    Device Manager returns the following:

The device is working properly (enabled).

    Driver Provider: Streamzap, Inc.

    Driver Date: 9/15/2002

    Driver version: 1.12.0.0

    Digital signer: Not digitally signed

    Driver Files: C:\ Windows\System32\drivers\zremote.sys

I attempted to update the driver without inserting the disc. No change.

I attempted to update from the disc. No change.

I tried to roll back the driver but no drivers have been backed up for this device.

Uninstalled the device and restarted the computer. "Found new hardware" window appeared. Disc was already in the drive so clicked "next". Device loaded and red icon appeared.

Able to see and adjust the features, and configuration of the device.

    Rebooted.

Red icon appeared and remote communicated with the receiver. Able to adjust the features and configuration of the device.

    Rebooted again.

Red icon appeared and remote communicated with the receiver. Able to adjust the features and configuration of the device.

    Thanks!!
