'STString.dll error'

Could anyone please identify what this error means. I have searched online and have not found a good explanation other than the file 'might' be contaminated with a virus. Malwarebytes does not show a problem as with SAS
Its my other daughter's laptop and I cleaned it up for her but this error prompt is very annoying, plus she uses the puter for her college homework and doesn't want to lose anything.

What operating system do ye have? xp/vista/7? 32/64? When do you get that error? Upon log on?

As I have come to understand this 'ststring.dll' error problem I have been posting about has to do with a Dell product, I went on their support forum and posted the following question:

WTF matie... what is this error... everything on my laptop works fine but this pops up at logon... 'StString.dell" failure How do fix/uninstall as I DON'T want the online backup.

To which I was promptly admonished for my violation of their agreement and told the post was deleted and 'threatened' LMAO :-D that if I posted the spanking email dell sent me I could/would be banned from Dell. :-D

Now I'm not sure if it was my "WTF" that offended someone's sensibilities of my statement that it was a ststring."dell" failure. Frankly, I don't give a rats read end.

So, as Dell's support is worthless as the proverbial mammary glands on a boar hog, I'm still looking to shut off this da_n annoying prompt.

What if I uninstall their data services, does this wipe out the system restore?
