    Hi -
I'm running Windows XP Pro SP2 on a P4 3.4 GHz computer with 2G of Ram. I have two folders that were corrupted during a copy/paste command and I cannot get them to go away. They retain their read only status and I get errors that say they are in use. I've searched the forums here and have tried a lot of what has been suggested in the past including:

Booting in Safe mode - won't delete

Using the DEL function in DOS Command - won't delete (even with /f)

"Open Command prompt type DEL hit space bar and drag/drop file into command prompt window.
Open Task Manager/processes and kill explorer.exe, go to CMD prompt and hit enter.
Go to Task Manager/New Task and type explorer.exe hit ok.."

I have tried using Move on Boot, Killbox, and Unlock. (Unlock actually did let me delete 2 of the 4 offending folders).

I've tried using chkdsk to with the /v switch to look at the indexing - but still no luck.

I need to delete these files in order to do a software upgrade, so I'd really appreciate any help. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks -

Out of curiosity, what types of folders are these? This information might be helpful in deleting them. Any idea of what application is using them?:)

These are Avid Project folders - they are used to house bin files, project settings, etc...I have uninstalled Avid (a precursor to the upgrade) but these folders are undelete-able. The problem began awhile back when I tried to copy/paste a backup of these files and aborted the copy/paste function. After that, it won't delete. Thanks -

Unbelievable! After working on it all morning, I finally got the darn things to delete! I am so happy! I had to go into the ownership settings in the folder properties (in safe mode) and change the owner to the adminstrator setting I was currently logged in as - then I applied the un-read only and was able to delete the files. Thank god!
