Stubborn Malware

I have a hidden registry key on my Wndows XP machine at
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SECURITY\Policy\Accounts\S-1-5-32-544\ActSysAc

I can't remember how I found out that it was there, but whatever program found it can;t delete it.
The symptoms are that certain Admin functions like updating drivers or accessing My Computer/Manage give an error message that I do not possess administrator privileges.
Kapersky can;t see it,nor can Mcafee trial nor AVG free,
All help gratefully appreciated.
