I began what I thought was going to be a simple System Recovery using my manufacturer's System Recovery CD (Packard Bell iStart 1370). Unfortunately the disk is not actually working as a dialog box informs me that file C:\6339------------ (the same number as on the System Recovery disk) cannot be recovered. Thus System Recovery cannot continue but will not allow me to abort the System Recovery process.
All I want to do is to boot back into my Windows XP and forget the System Recovery until I have checked with Packard Bell.
Does anybody have any ideas, please?

If there's no way to abort and roll back the system restore process, then I guess the only thing left to do is to kill the power, reboot and keep your fingers crossed.
If you fail to boot, you can borrow a proper windows CD from a friend (make sure the OS version matches yours), and do a repair (or re)-install using the lisence that should be printed on a sticker somewhere physically on your computer.
