This isn't going to be pretty, I currently am using dialup, soon to change to ADSL, I have been using TCP Optimizer to tweak the TCP settings for the Dialup adapter, while waiting for Verizon to give me a ready date for the ADSL, I decided to check my settings once again for the dialup, this is when I found I could no longer "ping" , I needed this function to find the Latency for the RWIN formula in TCP Optimizer, at one time this did work just fine, I did try turning off the firewall, no difference, I've made changes to the Network Applet, DUN and the TCP stack over the years, everything works fine (as far as dialup goes), I have tried going back to original settings, probably made to many changes to find all of them, I would like to be able to use TCPOptimizer when I get the ADSL installed, but without the ping it will be trial and error - any help would be appericated !!!!

OK, got the answer, seems that the ISP I use "blocks" pinging, for their dialup users here in New York state - no reasons given, thats just the way it is - thought you all might like to know -
