stupid *&$ Nortons

I have a Computer that had Panda 2005, and want Panda 2007, but when installing it says that Nortons is there. Nortons was removed long ago, and i have even tried running rnav 2003 nortons removal program, with no success. Have tried ccleaner to clean registry issues, but still its seeing Nortons. Anyone have any idea what I am going to need to do? My guess is that I will have to edit registry, but I'd rather not go in blind. Thanks in advance for any help... Also the laptop is an HP, running XP home, 768 megs of ram and an AMDxp2800+ in case this information helps
