Great forums, used it many times and been invaluable. But....I have a really stupid question. What happens if you turn off your computer without system restore turned on? the reason I ask is that I think I've done this and my computer is totally dead now, won't boot or anything. Fortunately I was going to wipe the hard disk and get rid of it anyway, so I'm not really bothered, but no matter how hard I've looked I can't find out if this has been the causing factor.

    Any flak gladly accepted.

Theoretically, that should cause no problems...

If you turn System Restore off, you won't be able to restore your computer to an earlier point. That should be the only thing that changes. My guess is that you did something else inadvertantly or it was just a coincidence.

What happens if you turn off your computer without system restore turned on? Nothing.....

If your computer don't start anymore it's likely a power supply issue.

It also could be a coincidence that your mobo might have died on you (i've had that happen before to me),
Are any of your computer's fans running?
