Apologies if this post should not appear on MG.

Organization has a Brother 8950DW multifunction machine (laser, scanner) which performs poorly. Machine is only 2 years old and has developed a tendency to jam every 4-5 pages. Replacing the paper feed rollers and separation pad in the paper cassette yielded no improvement, and replacement of other parts is beyond my mechanical precision.

We need to purchase a replacement and for obvious reasons we are a little reluctant to go with the same model -- we are even hesitant to stick with Brother although it has served us well in the past (and our other mini brother printers are workhorses).

While we recognize this isn't a sales forum and no particular official MG recommendation attaches to anything, we'd love to hear any comments on a good workhorse laser printer/scanner combo in the $500-1000 range, particularly from HP or Brother. Emphasis on reliability and must have document feeder for the scanner component.

I'd stick with Brother again. The problem you are seeing is likely a machine defect.

Brother has the best driver support on the market. I've seen some of their machines have drivers back from Windows 3.1 all the way up to 8. I replace them every 6-7 years. The last one was because the ethernet port developed a short in it.

Has your company considered leasing a Ricoh?
