Suggestions for GPS under $150.

Hi guys and gals, my daughter is asking for a GPS for the holidays.

What would be a good "starter" GPS for about $150 or less?

What does everybody have and what is good and not so good about it?

Ease of use is an absolute must and spoken street names is a plus.

Whatcha got?

I think mio makes a comparable model, that is around the price you are looking for. If things are still the same, i remember reading then, that the serf III gps chip was better than others, but I'm not sure if they have an updated gps chip.

 

I have a Garmin Nuvi that I love. Was $225 last xmas so I'm sure it's gone down since then.

I'm heading out to Best Buy this morning and picking up 2 of these Garmins.

I might as well get my son 1 also, since he actually got lost on the way to my house Thanksgiving day. :confused

No, we didn't move. He came up @ 5:30 am and the fog was so heavy that he actually missed the exit and had to turn around a little further down the road and back-track.

If he had a GPS, he would have been alerted to the upcoming turn, or at least been given an alternate route for the next cross street.

reviews look good. funny one reviewer calls it a "premier" unit. not saying it's bad, but at $99, i don't think it's a "premier" unit.

What's not so great: Don't try to look at it while driving, keep your eyes on the road..rolleyes
