Suggestions please?

I've been happily using Zone Alarm's free firewall program for my WIN98 computer, but now have been informed that it will no longer be providing support for WIN98. Does this mean my firewall no longer works? Or if it does will it be enough? Should I switch? If so, what free firewall might you recommend for a WIN98 program?

Zonealarm will still work BUT you will not have anymore update you know new versions.....

But you can still use it for years.....

You'll have to check compatibility, but I use Privacyware's "PrivateFirewall" which is both a firewall and anti-keylogger. It works on both 32 and 64 bit OS, and seems to play nice with just about everything. I've used it for years.

BTW, have you thought about upgrading to a slightly more modern OS? I ask because if you're going online (hence the primary (?) reason for needing a firewall), there isn't any support for WIN98 anymore, i.e., you're wide open to attacks regardless of your firewall, antivirus, and any other security programs you have installed.

 

Hi BearPup. Not sure if you noticed , but the thread you replied to is from 2006.

 

I only noticed that after I had already posted. Was so eager to help out that I just assumed it was recent. I'll check more carefully in the future.
