Suggestions Wanted: Laptop v. Desktop

I am going to buy a new computer. Either a laptop or a desktop. I prefer laptops, and have been looking at Toshiba along with HP.

I want to hook it to my Panasonic 32" to stream internet content.

Will a laptop be able to handle it ? What specifications should I look for ?

I am willing to buy a desktop if that will work better.

All suggestions welcome, as well as what I need to look for in both cases.

(I have been looking at the Toshiba Qosimo X775-Q7272 and the 7270 of the same model. HP you can customize some models).

I've been doing a bit more research and I am leaning towards Toshiba Qosimo. One of the X505-8100 series.

My only concern is that it will function with the Panasonic TV and stream content.
